Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 34-year-old man after a stabbing incident in Athy, Co Kildare.
David Boland, from Nurney, was stabbed multiple times after a row broke out on Duke Street at 5.30am this morning.
He was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where he later died.
Gardaí say that Mr Boland's car, a silver Audi, was taken from the scene of the murder and later found partially burned out on Woodstock Street in the town.

Gardaí say a house party was taking place in the area at the time of the attack, but Mr Boland had just arrived in the area.
Locals have described him as a "hard worker".
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and have said they are following several lines of inquiry.
Detectives are making a particular appeal to a group of young men who were at the scene and left soon after the attack.
CCTV footage is also being examined as part of the investigation.
An incident room has been established in Athy Garda Station where a case conference was held by the investigating team earlier today.
The State Pathologist and local Coroner have been notified and members of the Garda Technical Bureau are assisting with the investigation.
Supt Martin Walker, who briefed journalists this evening, described the attack as "shocking".
