Two garda patrol cars were rammed in Co Meath last night by a car that drove through a garda checkpoint at Kilcarn near Navan at 9.45pm. 

Gardai followed the car and it was stopped in the Clonmellon area of Meath.  The Garda helicopter was used in trying to locate the car and its occupants.

Four men were arrested at the scene in Clonmellon.  Three were taken to Navan garda station after being arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Three were later released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP. The fourth man was taken to Trim Garda Station and charged with dangerous driving.
