Four people have been arrested after searches were carried out at 11 houses in Co Wexford in an investigation targeting an organised crime gang believed to be involved in commercial burglaries nationwide.

Simultaneous searches were carried out at the properties in the Enniscorthy area at 6.30am.

Three men, two in their 40s and one in his 30s, and a woman in her 20s were arrested during the searches.

Cash, financial documents and a range of electronic devices including phones, sat navs, walkie talkies and a card key reader were also seized in the investigation.

More than 50 gardaí from Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford and Wexford took part in the searches.

They received assistance from the Dog Handling Unit attached to the Customs unit at Rosslare Port.
