Parents and staff of a Co Wicklow school have been advised that their school is "not going in any new direction and has no plans to do so".
It follows what the Board of Management of St Patrick's National School in Greystones described as the "surprise resignation" of the principal, Eileen Jackson, last Friday.
Ms Jackson said in a letter to parents that she had become "increasingly concerned" at the school's departure from core elements of the Church of Ireland ethos, such as diversity and inclusivity.
She said admission to State-funded education cannot be "a benefit of parochial engagement".
However, chairperson of the board of management, Canon David Mungavin issued an assurance to parents and staff today that there have been no changes to the ethos or the admissions policy and no plans for change.
