A 27-year-old man has been arrested and a vehicle seized by gardaí after following a robbery at a petrol station in Co Offaly overnight.

The garda helicopter was involved in a search for up to three men in the Tullamore area.

A number of men forced their way through the rear entrance of a Topaz station on the Charleville Road at the Fingerboard at 12.30am.

One man was later arrested.

Gardaí said the helicopter and specialist units assisted in searches of Ballard, Charleville Road and the N52 bypass.

They believe the three men may be in the Tullamore area and have appealed to the public to report anything suspicious.
