A 30-year-old man who sold cars in a manner, described by a judge as dishonest and mean, has been given a two-and-a-half year suspended prison sentence at Trim Circuit Court today.

Darren Joyce, of Cushinstown, Rathfeigh, in Co Meath sold four vehicles on DoneDeal with the promise they had NCTs in place and road tax cover but when the new owners tried to collect the documentation he never provided it because there was none.

The father-of-three has agreed to pay compensation to the new owners of the cars before October.
