A teenager is being questioned by gardaí in connection with the alleged stabbing of a man in Longford town.
A 19-year-old man sustained what are believed to be stab wounds during an incident at the Springlawn estate, off the Ballinalee road, at around 5.30pm yesterday.
He was treated by Midoc, an out-of-hours GP service, before being taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the man was later transferred to St James' Hospital in Dublin, where he is said to be in a stable condition.
A juvenile was arrested a short time after the alleged attack and is being detained at Longford Garda Station.
