Unions at Bord na Móna have reached agreement on the terms of redundancy for up to 70 workers at the firm's peat briquette plant in Tipperary, following months of negotiations.

The plant was closed down by the company last May - blaming a decline in briquette sales and global issues, but talks between the company and the unions have been underway since.

The Bord na Móna management team was criticised before Christmas for failing to settle terms earlier for the workers who were losing their jobs.

In a statement the BNM Group of Unions said they had now concluded agreement on redundancies at Littleton plant.

The details of the settlement will be published later this afternoon.
