Three men have been arrested following a firearms incident in Co Kildare last night.
The arrests were made after a car was seen speeding through Monasterevin. It was stopped by gardaí at Larch Hill near the town at around 9.30pm.
A male passenger exited the black Audi estate vehicle and produced what gardaí believe was a shotgun and discharged a shot.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
An hour later, gardaí from the Regional Support Unit stopped a silver Hyundai car at Pollardstown in Newbridge.
Three men, aged 23, 27 and 32 years old, were arrested in connection with the earlier incident.
They are being detained at Portlaoise and Tullamore Garda Stations.
