An historic woodland estate in Co Wicklow that once supplied oak for the English naval fleet is being restored to its former glory.

Coollattin Estate, which once covered 85,000 acres, had been largely deforested since the 1970s.

Many of the large oak trees that grew there were stripped out and sold as timber.

However the new owners of the estate have begun a massive replanting programme.

10,000 native oak saplings have been planted over the last year by forestry management company Veon.
