€1m worth of contraband tobacco seized at Rosslare port

Contraband tobacco with an estimated retail value of more than €1 million has been seized by Revenue officers at Rosslare Europort.

More than 2 tonnes of tobacco was found in a Polish-registered truck which was said to contain plastic during a routine search operation.

The driver of the truck, a man in his 40s was questioned and the truck was also seized.

The search was carried out by officers from the Revenue service along with detector dog Alfie.
