A man in his late teens and a woman in her 80s have died following separate road collisions in counties Wexford and Clare.
The man was injured in a collision involving a motorbike and a car shortly before 3.30pm yesterday on the R742, Ballinvunnia in Kilmuckridge, Co Wexford.
The man, who was travelling on the motorbike, was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he died in the early hours of this morning.
No other injuries were reported and a technical examination of the scene has been carried out.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses, or any road users who were travelling in the R742 at Ballinvunnia between 3pm and 3.30pm yesterday, to contact Gorey Garda Station on 053 942 1222 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
In Co Clare, a woman in her 80s died following a two-car collision, which occurred at around 3.30pm on Monday on the R352 near Moymore, Tulla.
The woman, who was a passenger in one of the cars, died in the early hours of yesterday morning at University Hospital Limerick.
The drivers of both cars, both women aged in their 50s, were seriously injured and are being treated at UHL.
The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, or any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R352 between 3pm and 3.30pm on Monday, to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 684 8100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
Separately, gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Limerick city yesterday afternoon involving a cyclist.
The man, who was in his 40s, left the scene on the Dublin Road at Mountshannon and went to a house, where he was treated by emergency services and later pronounced dead.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone travelling on the Dublin Road between 1.30pm and 2.10pm yesterday and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to contact Henry Garda Station on 061 212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
So far this year, 69 people have died on Irish roads, compared to 65 for the same period in 2025.
