Two men arrested over murder of man in east Belfast

Nicholas Gordon died following an assault at an apartment in east Belfast

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a man in east Belfast on Saturday.

Nicholas Gordon, 51, died in hospital from injuries sustained during an assault in the Holyrood Road area of Belfast on 12 May.

Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene and Mr Gordon was taken to hospital for treatment.

The PSNI said he later died and that detectives are treating the case as murder.

A 25-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were arrested in Scotland on suspicion of Mr Gordon's murder.

Arrangements are being made for the men to be returned to Northern Ireland where they will be questioned by detectives.
