Man, 60s, dies in two-car collision in Co Louth

A man in his 60s has died following a two-car collision in Co Louth last night.

The man, who was driving one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which occurred on the N53 at Rassan, near Dundalk, at around 10.15pm.

A woman in her 20s, who was in the second car, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda with non-life threatening injuries.

The man's body was removed to Louth County Hospital in Dundalk, where a post-mortem examination is to be carried out.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses, or road users with camera footage (including dash-cam), to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

The man was the second person to die on Irish roads on Easter Monday, after a man in his 50s died in single-vehicle crash Castletownroche in Co Cork.
