The President and the Taoiseach were among the dignitaries who attended the annual commemoration to mark the anniversary of the Easter Rising at the GPO on O'Connell Street in Dublin this morning.
Thousands of people lined the street for the event marking the 110th anniversary of the Rising that took place during Easter 1916.
The commemoration was also attended by Tánaiste Simon Harris, Minister for Defence Helen McEntee, Lord Mayor of Dublin Ray McAdam, Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill and Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald.
Crowds began to gather before 11am for the ceremony which saw a parade of Defence Forces personnel and music from a military brass band.
A Defence Forces chaplain led a prayer and the tricolour flag above the GPO was lowered to half-mast at noon.
Following a reading of the Proclaimation, the flag was raised again after President Catherine Connolly laid a wreath to commemorate those who had died in the Rising.
The national anthem was then played before an Air Corps flyover.
The Proclamation was read by Captain Eva Houlihan outside the GPO - the fourth woman to do so - 110 years after it was read by Padraig Pearse in the same location.
