A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Robbie Lawlor, the gangland criminal shot dead in Belfast.
The man is wanted in Northern Ireland and was arrested in Dublin today on foot of an extradition warrant from the PSNI.
Officers from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, supported by armed gardaí, arrested the man at his home in north Dublin as part of a joint investigation with the PSNI.
He is being detained at a garda station in the city and is due before the High Court tomorrow morning.
A violent and dangerous criminal, Robbie Lawlor was shot dead in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast almost six years ago, on 4 April 2020.
The 36-year-old was heavily involved in the Drogheda feud and is believed to have travelled to Northern Ireland because he feared he was going to be attacked
Gardaí identified Lawlor as the person responsible for, among other killings, the murder of Keane Mulready-Woods.
The 17-year-old was lured to a house in the Rathmullan estate in Drogheda, murdered and his remains dismembered and disposed of around Dublin and Louth.
Five other men, including Lawlor’s brother-in-law Stephen Carberry have since been jailed for their roles in the murder.
The PSNI has been investigating the murder of Robbie Lawlor with the assistance of An Garda Síochána and identified the 47-year-old Dublin man as a suspect in the case.
He is known to gardaí for his involvement in serious and organised crime and was a target of the Criminal Assets Bureau.
