A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the death of a man following a stabbing incident in Cork city on Monday evening.
It is understood the victim had gone to a nearby shop in the Lower John Street/Knapp's Square/Devonshire Street area of the city to buy food when he was stabbed.
He managed to make his way back to his apartment in Camden Court on Carroll's Quay, but was pronounced dead there a short time later.
The father of one is understood to be Ukrainian who has lived in Ireland since he was a child.
A man was arrested this morning and is being held at a garda station in Cork city.
A murder investigation was launched into the death and today gardaí said their investigations are ongoing.
