Man arrested in Cork fatal stabbing investigation

A man in his 30s has died after a suspected stabbing incident in Cork city
The victim was pronounced dead at his apartment on Carroll's Quay in the city on Monday night

A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the death of a 31-year-old man following a stabbing incident in Cork city on Monday evening.

It is understood the victim had gone to a nearby shop in the Lower John Street/Knapp's Square/Devonshire Street area of the city to buy food when he was stabbed.

He managed to make his way back to his apartment in Camden Court on Carroll's Quay, but was pronounced dead there a short time later.

The father of one is understood to be Ukrainian who has lived in Ireland since he was a child.

A man was arrested this morning and is being held at a garda station in Cork city.

Gardaí said that investigations are ongoing.
