A man has been arrested following the death of a cyclist in his 70s in a collision in Balbriggan, Co Dublin.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision involving a truck, which occurred on Dublin Street at 12.40pm yesterday afternoon.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene.
The road was closed for a technical examination.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly anyone with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the Dublin Street area between 12pm and 1pm yesterday, to contact Balbriggan Garda Station on 01 666 4500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
Witness appeal after pedestrian seriously injured in Tipperary
Separately, a man in his 20s was seriously injured after he was struck by a car in Cashel, Co Tipperary on Sunday night.
The incident occurred on the Clonmel Road (R692) shortly after 11pm.
The man was taken to Cork University Hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, in particular they would like to speak to three drivers who passed by the pedestrian prior to the collision.
