Woman and man, 40s, die in separate crashes in Meath

Two people in their 40s have been killed in separate road crashes in Co Meath.

A woman died in a two-car collision on the N51 at Boyerstown, outside Navan, at around 7.45am this morning.

She was a passenger in one of the cars.

A teenage girl - a passenger in that car - was airlifted to Children's Health Ireland at Temple Street with serious injuries.

The driver and a third passenger, both female, were also seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

The driver - the sole occupant of the second car - was brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of injuries that are not life threatening.

Earlier, a man in his 40s died following a collision between a truck and a van on the M3 at Dunshaughlin.

The crash occured at around 2am.

The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses, particularly any road users with camera footage, to contact them.
