New Year's Eve was the most popular date to get married in recent years, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The figures, which cover the 14-year period from 2011 to 2024, showed an average of 189 marriages took place on 31 December each year.
The previous day, 30 December, was the second most popular date for a wedding, with 151 marriages on average, followed by 28 December (147 marriages) and 29 December (136 marriages).
The least popular days to get married over the period were also all in December.
These were 24 December, (an average of four marriages), 26 December (an average of three marriages) and Christmas Day, when no marriages were recorded.
The most popular month to get married between 2011 and 2024 was August, followed by July, September and June.

While December had the four most popular dates, it was only the sixth most popular month to get married.
There was a total of 20,345 marriages registered in Ireland in 2024.
The average ages were 35.9 years for brides and 37.7 years for grooms.
Friday was the most popular day to get married, and Tuesday was the least popular.
August was the most popular month to wed for opposite-sex couples, while September was the most popular month for same-sex couples to marry in 2024, the CSO revealed.

3 August - 115 marriages on average
4 August - 110 marriages on average
5 August - 109 marriages on average
2 and 10 August - 103 marriages on average
