The family of a 91-year-old Irish man, who are among those trying to get a flight out of Dubai, say they are hoping to get home but are uncertain about their next move.
Marie-Ann Whelan, her husband Aaron and their extended family, including their 91-year-old grandfather Terry Carmody from Athlone, had gone to Dubai on holiday.
They were due to fly home on Monday but the flight was cancelled. The family have another flight booked for Friday.
"We are hearing from people at home to go to Oman but we're also hearing there are flights leaving from Dubai," Marie-Ann said.
So far the family say there has been no contact from the Irish embassy.
"We don't know what to do. We are getting a lot of conflicting information. Will we regret going to Oman if there are flights from Dubai?"
Ms Whelan, who is 13 weeks pregnant, said their family in Ireland are concerned, particularly for their 91-year-old grandfather.
"He's doing well. He's a very positive man, but, you know, people are worried about us at home, and we do want to get home.
"But we want to get home safely," she added.
"We are hearing some flights in Dubai have taken off and have landed successfully, so we're hoping that that will be the that case for us."
