Winning €11m Lotto jackpot ticket sold in Co Mayo shop

A winning €11m Lotto jackpot ticket was sold in a Co Mayo shop, according to the National Lottery.

Kelly's Mace, at the Circle K service station on Mulranny Road in Newport, sold Wednesday's ticket, worth €11,101,286.

The National Lottery confirmed that the Quick Pick ticket was purchased on the day of the draw.

Mace owner Michael Kelly said there is "great buzz" around the town.

Speaking to RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Mr Kelly said he was contacted by the local National Lottery representative yesterday and was told the ticket had been bought in his shop.

"He said, 'I've news for you and I hope you're sitting down'.

"It's only sinking in at this stage, there wasn't much sleep last night.

"We're still trying to get used to it."

Mr Kelly said he has no idea who bought the ticket.

"Our store has been here for 30 years, so it’s great news for the community.

"We're located right on the Greenway here in Newport, kept busy with both locals and people travelling through.

"There’s great excitement here in-store amongst staff and I’m sure our customers will to be thrilled too when news spreads. We wish the winner all the very best with their win."

Ireland's newest multi-millionaire has since made contact with the National Lottery and arrangements are being made for them to visit its headquarters to collect their €11m prize.

The winning numbers were: 19, 20, 22, 25, 28 and 43, with the bonus ball number of 1.

It marks the first Lotto jackpot win this year.

National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr said: "The largest ever Lotto jackpot was won in Mayo in 2022 when Laura's XL in Castlebar sold a winning ticket worth over €19.06 million.

"Last year, a Mayo family syndicate scooped over €17 million after purchasing their ticket online. For now, the celebrations are sure to continue in the county for the weekend."

National Lottery officials are due to visit the Circle K store in Newport.
