Two people have been injured, one critically, following a hit-and-run incident in Co Cavan yesterday evening.
Gardaí said a woman in her 20s was struck by a vehicle on the L1513 Drumlark, Loreto Wood at around 6.45pm.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot and a passenger, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured.
The passenger was taken to Cavan General Hospital where he is in critical condition.
The pedestrian is being treated at the same hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The road has been closed and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses to contact them.
They are particularly interested to hear from any road users who were in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm, and who may have camera footage, to contact Cavan Garda Station on 049 4368800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
