Parts of north Dublin are without water after a mains water pipe burst in Fairview.
Uisce Éireann said homes and businesses in Bayside, Collins Avenue, Howth Road, Raheny, Clontarf, Artane, Fairview, Kilbarrack, North Strand and Drumcondra are impacted.
Other areas, and high rise buildings in particular, will experience low water pressure as repairs are being carried out.
"There will be, obviously, schools affected … vulnerable customers will get phone calls from our schedule and dispatch teams, and we will be putting measures in place to make sure those vulnerable customers get water today," Keith Conmy, Water Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann said.
"We're obviously concentrating our efforts making sure that the hospitals in North Dublin are top of our priority to make sure they're supplied, and vulnerable customers as well," Mr Conmy added.
He said that vulnerable customers are being delivered water bottles and that water is being redirected to hospitals in effected areas.
Work is ongoing to address the supply issue and Mr Conmy said that water outages should be minimal by 1pm, but that low pressure was likely to continue, especially in taller buildings.
In terms of repairing the mains pipe, Mr Conmy it is hoped that crews could "get the repair done as quickly as possible."
He said crews were waiting ready for floodwaters to recede "so that we can get in to make that assessment."
Fairview Road has reopened to buses and emergency vehicles, but remains closed to other traffic.
It is expected to fully re-open later this morning.
