Watch: Drone footage shows scale of Enniscorthy flooding

Drone footage has revealed the scale of flooding in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford after the River Slaney burst its banks during heavy rain from Storm Chandra.

The town was one of a number of areas in the southeast of the country to be hit by heavy flooding.

Up to 30 homes and at least 20 businesses have been effected.

It has renewed calls from locals for the immediate introduction of a flood prevention scheme.

Independent Wexford County Councillor Jackser Owens said the flooding "is probably the worst I've ever seen".

"I signed a contract in 2011 for €50m for a flood relief scheme. It was rejected in 2022 over freshwater pearl.

"It’s just not good enough. We need this flood prevention scheme now," Cllr Owens said.
