Residents of a housing development in Dublin are clearing up the damage and wondering where they will sleep after Storm Chandra sent floodwaters through their homes.
Eight houses in Cookstown Lane, just off Enniskerry Road in Kiltiernan, woke up to flooding after a mountain stream burst its banks.
Amy Cullen, who is a resident of the housing development, said "the alarm went off this morning, 4am, and we thought it was just the weather".
"Then we got up this morning, the kids usually run down. Thank God they didn't, because the little fellow would have drowned.
"And the water was, as you can see, how high it is. Everything is just destroyed, everything," she added.
The water almost reached up to the windows of the homes which people moved into just over two years ago.
Ms Cullen said she and her three sons, one of whom is autistic, cannot stay there until the damage is repaired.
"We had to just go to a neighbour's house this morning because as you can see, we had to just pick everything up that we could. All our brand new furniture, floors, everything is gone, just destroyed.
"We just picked everything that we could save up and threw it up as far as we could this morning and everything's just destroyed on us," she said.
Ms Cullen was told that her family would be "put into the local leisure centre".
"We're just devastated, absolutely devastated.
"I've saved up for ages to buy all my new furniture just before Christmas, and new floors, and it's just gone," she said.
Ms Cullen added: "It's not safe. We’ve got no electricity. We don’t know [where we’ll stay].
"And I have an autistic son who doesn't really like change either. I don't even think it's hit me yet. I don’t know what to do. We're just trying to just get our head around it at the moment.
"There's absolutely nowhere for the water even to flush out. I never, ever thought I'd be in this situation.
"We don't have anywhere else to go, really. Even if we want to stay upstairs, we've no electricity. It’s not safe for anyone."
Most of those affected by the flooding are tenants of Clanmil, an approved housing body.
It said a plan is being put in place, but residents have said they do not know what will be done.
