A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the investigation into a house fire in Co Offaly in December, in which a four-year-old boy and his grandaunt were killed.
Tadgh Farrell and 60-year-old Mary Holt died in a fire at a house in Castleview Park in Edenderry, when a suspected petrol bomb was thrown through the front window on 6 December.
The man was arrested this morning and is being held at a garda station in the midlands.
It is the first arrest in the double murder investigation.
Tadgh was visiting his grandmother and his grandaunt at the time of the attack.
His remains and Ms Holt's remains were discovered in the front room, where the fire was deliberately started.
Tadgh's grandmother Pauline Holt was also in the house and was seriously injured in the fire.
