A man is in a critical condition in hospital after a serious assault in Co Roscommon yesterday morning.
The incident happened at around 1am on Barrack Street in Ballaghadereen.
The man, who is in his 30s, was brought to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed and gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
They particularly want to speak to people who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were on Barrack Street between 12.45am and 1.15am.
