Roads, railways and transport hubs saw heavy traffic throughout today as people continued to make their way home for Christmas.
Tens of thousands have been on the move, on what is considered to be one of the busiest travel days of the year.
Bus, rail, ferry and air services were operating at close to peak capacity on many routes.
Public transport timetables were operating as normal, but service providers advised intending passengers to pre-book where possible.
More than 50,000 arrivals were due into Dublin Airport over the course of the day, with thousands more landing at Knock, Cork and Shannon.
