The death of a man in Temple Bar in Dublin at the weekend is being investigated by Fiosrú, the Office of the Police Ombudsman.
A garda superintendent referred the incident to Fiosrú on Sunday, 14 December because the man had been in contact with the gardaí before his death.
A member of Fiosrú's team of investigators attended the scene.
In a statement the office of the Police Ombudsman said as the matter is now under investigation Fiosrú cannot make any further comment.
Separately, Fiosru is appealing for witnesses to a fatal road accident in South Dublin last Monday, 15 December, which involved an on-duty garda member and a pedestrian.
A 75-year-old man died in the incident on the N11 in Foxrock.
Fiosrú said it "would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the N11, Foxrock, near the Junction of the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Foxrock at approximately 6.45pm on Monday, 8 December 2025, or any passing vehicles, including taxis that may have dashcam footage from that location and /or on a mobile device".
