Man, 70s, dies after being struck by car on N11 in Dublin

A man in his 70s has died after he was struck by a car in Dublin yesterday evening.

The incident occurred on the N11 in Foxrock at around 6.45pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Dublin City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

No other injuries were reported.

The road was closed for a technical examination and later re-opened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area between 6.30pm and 7pm to contact Dún Laoghaire Garda Station on 01 666 5000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

The man was the second pedestrian killed in a road incident yesterday, and his death brings to 170 the number of people who have died on Irish roads this year.

A woman, aged in her 80s, died after she was struck by a car in Co Carlow yesterday evening.
