Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will pay his first official visit to Ireland tomorrow along with the first lady Olena Zelenska.

He will hold a bilateral meeting with the Taoiseach and pay a courtesy call to President Catherine Connolly.

President Zelensky is also expected to address a sitting of the joint Houses of the Oireachtas.

His visit to Ireland comes at a critical time for the Ukrainian peace plan.

He is due to arrive in Paris today for key talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.

While tomorrow the focus turns to his visit to Ireland which has been a key European ally during the Russian invasion.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has welcomed the news saying Ireland has demonstrated steadfast support for Ukraine.

He said the visit also recognises the valued contribution of the 120,000 Ukrainians who have sought refuge here.

President Zelenskyy will have a number of engagements, including a bilateral meeting with the Taoiseach and the inauguration of the Ireland-Ukraine Economic Forum, alongside the Tánaiste Simon Harris and Minister for Foreign Affairs Helen McEntee.
