"Do you ever get a lump in your throat? He's just doing so good," said an emotional Josie Parrott this evening.
Troy Parrott's nanny was one of the proud family members nervously watching the Ireland v Hungary game in a busy pub on O'Connell Street in Dublin.
Arriving back home to Portland Row tonight, they spoke about their love and admiration for the footballer after he scored a stunning hat-trick, catapulting Ireland into the World Cup playoffs next year.
"Five goals in one weekend? Who does that?" asked Josie.

Her house on Portland Row is decorated in Irish flags to honour her striker grandson, who also grew up on the street.
"I knew he was gonna do it. I just had a feeling. He deserves everything he got. I'm so proud of him. He knows I love him to bits," she said.
His uncle Christopher McAuley said he was nearly sobbing while watching the game with his family.
"The whole pub was going mental. Bring on the playoffs.
"[I was] biting my fingers ... I don't think I have any nails left and my voice has gone from shouting ... cursing at the referee throughout the whole game," he said.
He said his sister and brother only booked flights yesterday for the match in Hungary.
But he said he could not get the time off work, and that he will be more prepared for the playoffs.
Portland Row is home to other successful sports stars including boxer Kellie Harrington and former professional footballer Wes Hoolahan.
Neighbour Marie Harding said she was still in shock this evening after watching the match.
"I can't breathe thinking about it. That last couple of minutes it was like 'oh my god!' the screams of us all!" she said.
"For a small road like this with a small amount of houses we've done very extreme.
"We're used to having our sports people do really well," Ms Harding added.
So, what's in the water?
"Portland Row," she joked.
