Two men have been arrested after gardaí foiled what they believe was a professional theft operation targeting airport duty free shops.
The men landed at Dublin Airport yesterday morning, but did not leave the airport.
They had return tickets to a different London airport than the one they arrived from. One of them also had an empty suitcase.
Over the course of approximately three hours gardaí say around €6,000 worth of high value duty free goods, including perfume was stolen.
Gardaí at Dublin airport were alerted to the thefts and set up a covert surveillance operation, under Operation Tairge.
Two men, aged in their 40s and 50s, were arrested as they tried to leave the country.
They were arrested and questioned and are expected to appear in court later today.
