Catherine Connolly has been officially declared Ireland's tenth president at an inauguration ceremony in Dublin Castle.
The ceremony took place in St Patrick's Hall, where all presidents have been inaugurated since 1938.
In her speech she said she will ensure "all voices are represented, heard and valued".
