Emer O'Loughlin's family believe someone knows where the man wanted in connection with her murder is, RTÉ reporter John Cooke has told Behind the Story.
A jury at the inquest into the death of the 23-year-old, whose body was found in a burnt out mobile home 20 years ago, returned a verdict of unlawful killing earlier today.
The mobile home, which belonged to a man named John Griffin, had been completely destroyed by fire.
Gardaí believe Griffin, who has been missing since shortly after her death, has vital information.
John Cooke has spoken to Emer’s family several times over the years, who believe Griffin, also known as 'Fozzie' Griffin, is still out there.
"Emer’s family believe he is still out there somewhere on the continent - or perhaps somewhere else – and there are people who know where he is as well," he said.
"The appeal from them today, the day an unlawful killing verdict has finally been recorded at the inquest into her death 20 years later, they’re saying they’re in no doubt he’s out there."
Fran also talks with RTÉ’s Fiona Mitchell about the seismic Democratic wins in US elections overnight - including that of New York's next Mayor, Zohran Mamdani.
