A man in his 30s has died after being hit by a bus in Co Kildare.

The crash occurred between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound on the N7 motorway at Kill.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was seriously injured and taken to Tallaght University Hospital.

He passed away this evening.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The driver of the bus, a man aged in his 30s, was uninjured, while two passengers received non-life threatening injuries.

The N7 motorway between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound is currently closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The road will remain closed overnight, with diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to gardaí.
