An English tourist who was seriously injured following an assault in Dublin city centre earlier this year has died.
Anthony Herron was taken to Beaumont Hospital in a critical condition following the assault in the Temple Bar Square area in the early hours of Thursday, 21 August.
He was later transferred to a hospital in the UK to continue his treatment.
An update on a JustGiving fundraiser, set up to help Mr Herron's family, said he died on Saturday.
His family described him as an "amazing person" and said what happened to him was "truly heartbreaking".
They said it was an "outrage to think this could actually happen to anyone in a city on an evening out".
Mr Herron had two young children, one of whom was born after he was injured in the Temple Bar Square incident.
A man aged in his 20s has appeared before the courts charged in relation to the incident.
