President Michael D Higgins has returned to Áras an Uachtaráin following treatment in hospital for an infection.
President Higgins was treated in St James's Hospital in Dublin for antibiotic treatment for a localised infection.
A spokesperson said President Higgins would like to "express his thanks to the medical staff who treated him", and to "all those members of the public who sent their best wishes to him" over the course of his brief stay in hospital.
Yesterday, a spokesperson said the president's condition had improved and that the president was in good spirits and feeling well.
President Higgins travelled to the hospital by arrangement on Sunday and stayed in for the last two nights.
Last year, Mr Higgins spent several days in St James's Hospital as a precaution to monitor his blood pressure.
At the time, the president thanked the public for the "outpouring" of support he had received.
He later revealed he had suffered a mild stroke.
Mr Higgins will remain in office at Áras an Uachtaráin until Catherine Connolly's inauguration in Dublin Castle on 11 November.
