A 20-year-old man and a teenage boy have been charged with the murder of Barry Daly in the north Cork village of Doneraile at the weekend.
Mr Daly was pronounced dead after emergency services were called to an incident outside his home at Rockview Terrace just after 2am on Sunday morning.
Alex Deady, with an address at Glen View, Convent Road in Doneraile, appeared before Mallow District Court, charged with Mr Daly's murder.
Detective Garda Gary Costello told the court Mr Deady did not reply when the murder charge was put to him.
Judge Colm Roberts remanded Mr Deady in custody, saying a bail application could not be considered because of the nature of the charge.
A request for free legal aid was granted.
