Broadcaster Kieran Cuddihy is to move to RTÉ radio after staff at Newstalk were informed of his departure last night.
Mr Cuddihy will take over as the new presenter of Liveline as RTÉ confirmed a number of changes to its presenter and programme schedule on RTÉ Radio 1.
An email sent by senior management at Newstalk announced Mr Cuddihy's move. It also stated that yesterday's show was his final show hosting on the radio station.
Mr Cuddihy has been broadcasting at Newstalk since 2011, and has been presenting 'The Hard Shoulder', a daily news and current affairs programme, since 2020.
The broadcaster has also been at the helm of the television programme 'The Tonight Show' on Virgin Media since February.
A high-profile outing in recent weeks came when he moderated the first broadcast presidential debate on Virgin Media last month.
From Kilkenny, Mr Cuddihy is a qualified solicitor who started out as a reporter before moving on to his own current affairs programmes, and then joining the Newstalk breakfast show presenting team.
Then, in 2020, Mr Cuddihy took over presenting 'The Hard Shoulder', succeeding Ivan Yates in the role.
The announcement to staff at Newstalk came just hours after RTÉ announced that broadcaster Ray D'Arcy is leaving RTÉ Radio 1 after 11 years presenting his daily afternoon show.
In a statement, Mr D'Arcy said he was "hugely disappointed" with RTÉ management and how his departure from Radio 1 has been handled.
This morning, RTÉ Radio 1 staff were invited to a meeting with Director of Audio Patricia Monahan for an update on future plans for the station.
Among the schedule changes are the new Today with David McCullagh from 9am, with Oliver Callan moving to a longer time slot at 11am until 1pm.
Louise Duffy moves to mid-afternoon and Katie Hannon and Colm Ó Mongáin will take to the helm at Drivetime, with a new time of 4pm to 6pm.
There will also be a new daily sports show from 6pm.
There had been speculation in recent weeks that Mr Cuddihy could potentially succeed Joe Duffy at the helm of RTÉ's Liveline, following the veteran broadcaster's retirement in June.
