Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport reopened to passengers this afternoon after a security alert prompted an evacuation this morning.
The alert was raised at 11.30am, after which the terminal was evacuated "as a precautionary measure".
Gardaí responded to the scene following concerns being raised about an "item of airline luggage of concern".
Gardaí said Terminal 2 was evacuated as a precaution and traffic entering Dublin Airport was restricted.
Gardaí then requested the assistance of the Defence Forces' Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
Following a preliminary examination at the scene, the piece of luggage was contained and deemed safe for removal from T2 to an alternate location which would not impact on airport operations, according to gardaí.
The piece of luggage was subject to further examination by the Army EOD team and was then declared safe.
In a statement, An Garda Síochána said: "Based on the information available to An Garda Síochána and other relevant stakeholders, this was an appropriate and responsible approach to the situation which was presented."
Dublin Airport and associated access routes reopened for normal operations following the security alert.
Gardaí said no arrests have been made and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Airport operator daa said some disruption to flight schedules may still occur, and urged passengers to check their flight status with their airline.
"The safety and security of passengers and staff remain our top priority," daa said.
Meanwhile, daa said that a software issue, impacting many major airports across Europe, had a "minor impact" at Cork and Dublin airports.
The software issue was unrelated to this morning's security alert.
In a post on X this evening, Dublin Airport said: "We are continuing to work closely with airlines this evening to get passengers on their way following the earlier evacuation of Terminal 2 and as airlines continue to deal with the ongoing disruption caused by a Europe-wide technical issue that is impacting on their check-in and boarding systems.
"This has been a challenging day and we thank passengers for their patience and understanding.
"Some further disruption to flights is possible as the day goes on and passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for updates on their flight."
