A 32-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Lee Slattery whose body was found in a shallow grave on the outskirts of Limerick city 15 years ago.

Kurt Ryan, of Cliona Park, Moyross, in Limerick City appeared before a sitting of Limerick District Court this afternoon charged with Mr Slattery's murder at The Delmege's Estate, Knocklisheen Road, Limerick, on a date on or about 28 May 2010.

The court was told that when he was arrested, charged and cautioned, Mr Ryan made no reply.

Given the charge there was no application for bail made before the district court.

Judge Patricia Harney remanded Mr Ryan in custody to Limerick Prison to appear again before the district court next Tuesday via video link.
