Gardaí are investigating several phone calls to garda stations relating to threats against the home of Tánaiste Simon Harris and his family.
Mr Harris and his family were not in the house at the time, but were advised by gardaí not to return until security checks, including searches by the garda dog unit, have been completed.
So far nothing sinister has been found and detectives suspect the calls could be part of an elaborate hoax.
Gardaí have begun a criminal investigation into the calls.
The security alert commenced after specific threats with a limited time scale were phoned in to garda stations in Wicklow and Wexford in what appears to be an orchestrated campaign against the Tánaiste and his family.
It is understood the calls, which included bomb threats, were made on Telegram, which offers security provisions and encryption, enabling callers to disguise their identity.
It is the third such threat to the family in a week.
Last Friday, a direct threat was made online to a close member of his family and last week another online threat was made to his children.
In a statement yesterday, Mr Harris said these threats are a "clear and sinister pattern" to "intimidate" him out of public office.
