There was a surprise turn of events in the Court of Appeal this week after Conor McGregor withdrew his application to introduce new evidence in his appeal against a High Court civil finding that he raped Nikita Hand.
Ms Hand sued Mr McGregor alleging she was raped in a hotel in Dublin in December 2018.
The jury found in her favour last November and awarded her almost €250,000 in damages.
Mr McGregor was challenging the jury's verdict and wanted to bring in "fresh evidence" as part of his appeal.
The Court of Appeal is now set to refer documentation relating to his application to withdraw the so-called new evidence from his appeal to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

RTÉ's Legal Affairs Correspondent Órla O'Donnell was in court and joined Fran and Katie to discuss what it could mean and what potentially happens next.
The duo also discussed Mr McGregor’s refused planning permission for a six-bedroom house - complete with a cinema, bar and two swimming pools - in Co Kildare, as well as apparent international interest in his political aspirations.
