Community 'raw with grief'
The community in Co Donegal is said to be "raw with grief" after the crash.
Carndonagh Parish Priest Fr Con McLaughlin said that "words were not adequate" to describe the situation.
"I don't know what to say at this stage, other than to say a prayer that somehow or other in time or in turn, they will be able to cope with this awful tragedy".
Cllr Albert Doherty in Carndonagh said the "community was devastated" with the news that unfolded.
"We were cut to the core that such a tragedy unfolded again in the Inishowen peninsula. This community will be a strength for the family at this tough time".

Cathaoirleach of the Inishowen Municipal District Cllr Martin McDermott echoed Cllr Doherty's remarks.
"There’s a dark cloud over Inishowen. The feeling out on the ground is of great sadness.
"Sadly, we’ve had a lot of these times where the community has come together. We will come together and we will do whatever we can for the families over the days, weeks, months and years ahead".
The R240, one of the main thorough fairs connecting north Inishowen and Co Donegal has reopened after a technical examination.
It’s understood the driver of the van, a male aged in his late teens, did not sustain serious injuries.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information that could assist their investigation to come forward.
Inspector Sean McDaid from Buncrana Garda Station told RTÉ News that they’re appealing for information "however small people may have".
The death of the young girl and her mother brings to nine – the number of people who have lost their lives on the roads in Donegal so far this year.
