A search has concluded at a house in Dublin as part of the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Annie McCarrick.

The search, which involved a cadaver dog, began earlier this month at a house in Clondalkin in west Dublin.

Gardaí said details of the search are not being released for operational reasons.

They will remain on site in order to return the site to the current residents.

Gardaí say the current residents of the house are not connected in any way with Ms McCarrick or her disappearance.

The family of Ms McCarrick have been updated by gardaí regarding today's developments.

Ms McCarrick went missing in Dublin over 32 years ago.

The American woman had been due to have dinner with friends at her apartment in Sandymount that weekend but they became concerned when they had not heard from her, she had not turned up for work and was not at home.

Her last confirmed activity was just after 11am on Friday, 26 March 1993, when she bought groceries which were discovered unpacked in her home two days later.

Her friend reported Ms McCarrick missing that Sunday evening, 28 March 1993.

Gardaí have repeated an appeal to anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant they might believe it to be, to contact the Garda Investigation team.

They also appealed to any person who may have previously come forward who felt they could not provide gardaí with all the information they had in relation to this matter, to contact the investigation team again.

"With the passage of time they may now be in a position to speak further with the investigation team.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence.

"The investigation team can be contacted at Irishtown Garda Station on 01 666 9600 or anyone who wishes to provide information confidentially should contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111," gardaí said in a statement.

Gardaí say they are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of the disappearance and murder of Ms McCarrick.
