The young girl who was seriously injured in a knife attack on Dublin's Parnell Square in November 2023 is now attending school full-time for the first time since the incident, her family has said.
In an update on a fundraising page for the girl, her family praised staff at the "very special institution" who have "gone above and beyond (in our eyes) to make our little girl feel part of the group, even after joining mid-school year".
The girl's family said that she is not attending a "mainstream school".
They added that the girl, who is now six years of age, has continued to make progress in her recovery from the attack.
"For us who see our angel warrior every day, it is more difficult to notice advances and changes in her, but for those who see her less often, her progress is clear.
"She has been attempting different sounds (some nasal ones), and moving her arms with more intent. Her happiness is infectious."
While the girl's family acknowledge there have been "some challenging days", they are anticipating summer with excitement.
"We are so happy to be able to spend it at home, hoping to spend days outdoors, smell the warm air, enjoy the sun and the sea."
A 51-year-old man is currently before the courts charged with the attempted murder of the three children and causing serious harm to the care worker.
