Det Gda Lane said that at 11.44pm he charged Mr Murphy with possession of controlled drugs for sale or supply, and after caution Mr Murphy replied "I understand the charge".

Det Gda Lane said he also charged Mr Muphy with possession of controlled drugs, and after caution Mr Murphy replied "I accept the charge".

Michael Murphy was remanded in custody to Cork Prison

Gardaí objected to an application for bail.

Judge Kevin Staunton refused bail and remanded Mr Murphy in custody.

Solicitor for Mr Murphy Chris Hogan requested that Mr Murphy be sent to Cork prison and not to Cloverhill prison due to what he said were "legitimate concerns for his wellbeing."

He also asked the judge to instruct the media not to disclose Mr Murphy's full address.

Judge Staunton granted both requests.
