On International Epilepsy Day, Epilepsy Ireland are highlighting three things to keep in mind that could help someone who is having a seizure.
New research commissioned by the organisation has found that less than half of people surveyed in Ireland would know what to do if they saw somebody having a seizure.
They are hoping to close that first aid knowledge gap by emphasising three key words for people to remember - 'time, safe, stay.' This means you should time the seizure, make the person safe by removing hazards, and stay with them afterwards.
Emma Beamish is an English teacher and former international cricketer. She was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 14. Emma says it has been 'life-changing' to her when people have helped her when she has had a seizure in public.
